The outstanding works of Filipino artists Harold Khan and Jessielaine Punongbayan will be on display in the upcoming art show “Reflections: Exploring the Canvas of Cultural Diversity,” which is proudly announced by Sentro ng Kultura at Wika ng Austria at Pilipinas and VHS Donaustadt.
The exhibition will be held at VHS Donaustadt, Bernoullistraße 1, 1220 Wien (near Westfield Donauzentrum), from June 5 to June 24, 2024, from 09:00 to 21:00.
“Reflections” seeks to appreciate cultural variety through the prism of Filipino artistry. Renowned for their unique aesthetics and poignant portrayals of their cultural roots and inspirations, Harold Khan and Jessielaine Punongbayan will showcase diverse artworks that will captivate viewers from all walks of life.
Harold Khan, renowned for his vibrant use of striking colors, transports spectators to a universe in which modern patterns and expressions blend with traditional Filipino design, evoking the feel of vintage cinema billboards to create a conversation between the past and present. His pieces question ideas of identity and belonging while simultaneously arousing feelings of nostalgia.
Conversely, Jessielaine Punongbayan is an expert in abstracting form and symbolism. The landscapes of the Philippines are evident in her paintings: from verdant tropical rainforests full of unique flora and fauna to immaculate beaches with crystal-clear waters and striking limestone cliffs to volcanoes that occasionally erupt in flames and lava.
Her work invites viewers to investigate the familiar narratives that bind us together, acting as a bridge across cultural divides.
“We are thrilled to host ‘Reflections: Exploring the Canvas of Cultural Diversity’ and to showcase the extraordinary talents of Harold Khan and Jessielaine Punongbayan,” remarked the organizers. “This art exhibition offers a unique opportunity to experience the beauty of Filipino art while reflecting on the diversity of cultures that enrich our world.”
Art lovers and cultural aesthetes should find “Reflections: Exploring the Canvas of Cultural Diversity” to be thought-provoking and artistically spectacular. Take advantage of this opportunity to fully immerse yourself in Philippine culture and art.
